My neighbor's Unfortunately, cat had 3 adorable baby kittens. my neighbors barely like the mom cat let alone her babies. 2 have disappeared mysteriously overnight. My guess is that they drove somewhere out of the city and left them there. Their daughter told us they were preparing to "take care" of the last one so we acted and asked them if we could take adopt. Funnily enough, they even charged us for this. Anyway, the baby boy is now ours and he is absolutely amazing in every way.

The reason I am writing this post is because my girlfriend and I live on the 5th floor in a 1- bedroom flat that isn't the most spacious. The issue is that we have no way of letting him go outside. He spends most of his day looking out the window and our heart is breaking. If we let him outside he has no way of coming back and we don't want to risk that. I am working from home thankfully and playing with him frequently but I know it is not the same. We

transformed our apartment into a cat playground at this point lol. Toys and climbing spots everywhere. We know he is happy here but are wondering if keeping him inside all the time isn't too cruel. We got him a leash to try and take him outside for walks (I know it sounds crazy) which had various results. On some days he is happy others not so much.

We have friends living outside of town who suggested giving our boy to them so he can roam free. On paper this sounds great, however, we love him so much that giving him away would crush us. Are we being too selfish here? We've been told that we are overthinking this and cats can live a perfectly happy life indoors all the time but honestly, I don't know how true that is. What do you guys think?

lolsalmon 19h ago He spends most of his day looking out the window and our heart is breaking. It's just Cat TV. Of course he likes to look outside! I like to look out the window and watch the squirrels run around in the snow, but I sure prefer to be warm, fed, and not at risk of being eaten by critters. I'm sure your guy would feel the same if you could explain it to him. 588 Reply ↑ Share I

Still Storm7432 • 20h ago Cats live longer inside. Buy him some items to climb on, get him some scratch posts, and make time and play with him. Almost everything is a danger to a cat outside. You'll find that most people on this page are not going to back you up on wanting to let your cat outside. 340 Reply Share

Kitchenwitch_• 18h ago I also have a small apartment- space and height wise. I recently kept 3 out of 5 feral kittens I had found a few months ago. I've got a bird feeder that attaches to the outside window that they love and recently put up shelves for them as well. It's just about giving them the enrichment they need not necessarily the outdoors. Indoor cats are safer and live longer lives. Good luck and congrats on your furry new addition

EIGHTYHD 20h ago No no no cats do not need to go outside. There is SOO much you can do to supplement entertainment and stimulation inside. Please I see too many posts of kitties going missing or being hit by cars by well meaning owners like you but the truth is it is worse for their health and wellbeing to go outside. I promise you that you can give him the most wonderful beautiful life indoors♥ 4152 Reply ↑ Share

Trudestiny 19h ago If you pet him, show him love, feed him and generally don't ignore him he will be happy Ours was on the street until almost 3 months old, climbing tree with his sister and living in a larger colony. But someone was systematically k ng the news kitties including his sibling. He was the last one and we grabbed him (it was the first time it happened on this corner)

But if he had remained outdoors then there is cars, other animals, dis se etc to deal with My SILs cat goes out, constantly has flees and picking tics out of its fur. Cat fights with larger vet bills and always the risk of fiv (felines- that isn't a pretty th), and feline leu mia equally terrible. I've seen both and sat waiting in distress while i had my little one tested last week

It sounds like your little one is enjoying the efforts you have made to give him a forever home For reference i'm not in Usa, my SIL is in Canada. We live in France / Greece 49 ↑ Share Reply

xtcdenver 19h ago ● I would never let my cats outside, and they stare out the window constantly. They're quite happy just watching birds and such. All indoor cats, in my experience, love staring out the window - it should be encouraged! Have you considered getting an awesome window tree for him? Image is not mine but I figured I'd attach this image to show what I'm referring to. Keep your vat inside! It's really the best for them.

Tall_Heat 2688 • 20h ago No! He does not need to go outside in fact it's better if he doesn't go outside at all. He can have a fully fulfilling life indoors and be completely happy. It sounds like you and your SO care so he couldn't ask for better parents! 434 ↓ Reply Share

crazycatlady1214 • 19h ago Hon, I have seven cats who have never stepped outside except for trips to the vet and supervised leash adventures. They are fine, yours will be too. Cats are a very versatile pet! ↑ 13 ↓ Reply 1 Share ...
